The Toa Payoh Sports Centre (formerly known as Toa Payoh Sports and Recreation Centre) operates as the main sports hub in Toa Payoh New Town, housing the Singapore Table Tennis Association, the Singapore Swimming Association’s office, and S-League club Balestier Khalsa. The Sports Centre consists of a Swimming Complex, a multi-purpose sports hall, 8 pétanque courts and the Toa Payoh Stadium.
Toa Payoh has a rich history in hosting sports competitions – in 1973 several housing blocks in the Toa Payoh area served as the athletes’ village for the 7th Southeast Asia Peninsular Games (SEAP). The Sports Centre itself participated in the Asian Youth Games (2009) and hosted volleyball, diving and weightlifting competitions during the 2010 Youth Olympic Games.
In July 2016, the sports centre’s Petanque courts will host the Pétanque events for the AUG.
